To D.A. Kunaev

Before you is a name connected with an entire era of Kazakhstan’s development — Dinmukhamed Akhmedovich Kunaev. He was born in 1912 in Verny, today’s Almaty, and rose from a mining engineer to the leader of the republic in Soviet times. Under Kunaev, Kazakhstan developed rapidly: new cities, industrial enterprises, universities and cultural centers were built. It was largely during his years that Almaty became the recognizable city we know today.
