Singing Dune (Altyn-Emel)

The Singing Dune is one of the main natural attractions of Altyn-Emel National Park in the Almaty Region of Kazakhstan. It is a large sand dune approximately 150 meters high and more than three kilometers long. The dune is known worldwide for its unique acoustic phenomenon: when the sand moves due to wind or human footsteps, it produces sounds of various tones — from a low hum and rumble to sounds resembling singing or organ music.
