The monument to M. I. Kalinin in Almaty is one of the most popular areas for relaxation and enjoying historical open-air architecture. The monument to the Soviet state and party leader was originally installed in 1972 near the Almaty-2 railway station. In 2001, as part of a program to reshape the urban landscape, the sculpture was dismantled and relocated to a designated square behind the Sary-Arka cinema, located next to Family Park.
