The Nurgisa Tlendiev Memorial Museum opened on May 16, 2014, in Almaty to mark the 90th anniversary of the great Kazakh composer, conductor, kyuishi, and People’s Artist of the USSR. The museum is located in the historical center of the city at 96 Kunayev Street — in the very apartment where Nurgisa Atabaevich Tlendiev lived with his family for the last 19 years of his life, from 1979 to 1998. It is a memorial apartment-museum that carefully preserves the authentic atmosphere of the home of the outstanding master of Kazakh music.
