Baiterek Monument

The Baiterek Monument was inaugurated in 2002 and has become the principal symbol of Kazakhstan's capital. Its design is inspired by the ancient Turkic legend of the Tree of Life, where the sacred bird Samruk lays a golden egg representing the sun and the beginning of life. The concept was proposed by the First President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, while the project was designed by architect Akmyrza Rustembekov.
