The State Academic Puppet Theater

The State Academic Puppet Theater in Almaty is the true pioneer of Kazakh puppetry art. It was founded in 1935 on the initiative of the outstanding statesman Temirbek Zhurgenov and became the first puppet theater in the entire republic. From the very beginning, two troupes worked here at once — a Kazakh one and a Russian one.
