The A. Kasteyev National Museum of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan is located in Almaty and is the country's largest art museum. Its history began in 1935 with the establishment of the Kazakh State Art Gallery, while the current museum building opened to visitors in 1976. In 1984 the museum was named after the outstanding Kazakh artist Abylkhan Kasteyev, and in 2025 it was granted the status of the National Museum of Arts.
