The Saken Seifullin Almaty Regional Universal Library traces its history back to 1946, when a rural library was established in Malaya Stanitsa. It became a regional library in 1949, and in 2003 it was relocated to Taldykorgan after the administrative center of the Almaty Region was moved there. At the same time, a branch continued operating in Almaty to serve local readers.
