Park of the 28 Panfilov Guardsmen

In the center of Almaty lies a quiet green park named after the 28 Panfilov Guardsmen. It was founded back in the 1870s as the City Garden and changed its name several times until 1942, when it received its current name in honor of the feat of the twenty-eight heroes who stopped German tanks near Moscow in 1941. Today the park covers 18 hectares and remains one of the favorite places for citizens to relax.
