Talhiz Ancient Settlement

A medieval settlement dating from the 8th to the 13th centuries near Almaty. It is one of Kazakhstan's most important archaeological sites and forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage property of the Silk Roads.

The Talhiz Ancient Settlement is located near the town of Talgar at the foot of the Trans-Ili Alatau Mountains. The archaeological site preserves the remains of a medieval city, including defensive walls, residential quarters, workshops, and trading areas. Today, visitors can explore the site and learn about one of the largest medieval cities of the Semirechye region.
