Charyn Canyon

Charyn Canyon is a magnificent natural monument over twelve million years old, stretching for one hundred and fifty-four kilometers along a turbulent mountain river. Its crowning jewel is the famous Valley of Castles, where wind and water have carved incredible towers and pillars out of red sandstone over the eons. In the rays of the setting sun, the rocks take on a fiery hue, drawing frequent comparisons to Martian landscapes or the Grand Canyon in America.
